All out of books

Over the weekend, I had the odd pleasure of selling my last available copy of Emmaline and the Fluffles to Sue, a children’s librarian whose daughter attends the same writing group as me. Emmaline was eight years in the making. There were lots of starts and stops and u-turns in the process, and frankly, on more than one occasion, I was ready to give up on the book.

All out of copies of Emmaline and the Fluffles…

But this group of writers—best described as a ‘hodge-podge’ group—gave me the encouragement to continue. They believed in the value of what I was doing and were directly responsible for Emmaline’s coming to life. So, instead of not having a book at all, now I don’t have any books, at least not to sell today. Not because I didn’t write one, but because they’ve all sold out. Which is a delightful problem to have.

All of which makes me realize I can’t thank the people who have helped me nearly enough.  So thank you, everyone.

(And don’t worry – more books are on the way…)

      1. I wrote an intelligent, humorous, thoughtful, and brilliant comment yesterday that got lost, so my hello today was just a probe to see if I got through.

The essence of the comment was—sorry to inform you that the writer position has been filled but that your current predicament of lack of books to sell qualifies you for a successful author openning should you be willing to undertake the stress, hassle, and gaggle of admirers sure to be produced.

Actually what I wrote yesterday was not only funnier, but more intelligent. Suffice to say I have a copy of the book and am interested in buying a couple more to donate to libraries in Maine when I return there shortly.

I haven’t been able/upto showing up in real or virtual reality, but looking forward to seeing you when I am.
